This summer weather calls for one thing, and one thing only: BEACH TIME!
Time to dust off your summer clothes and head to the beach! Not sure which one is the best? Let us tell you our top picks to make the best out of your summer in the Netherlands!
Located between the sea and the city of The Hague, Scheveningen is a top favorite amongst the residents of Randstad and not only! With more than 4km of sandy shores (that are 110 meters wide!), this is by far the largest and most popular seaside resort in the Netherlands. In addition to the amazing beach, at Scheveningen you will find lots of activities and attractions, including the famous Pier, the Sea Life aquarium, and the famous dunes of Kijkduin. A must-visit during the sunny days of summer!
#2 Zandvoort aan Zee
The most popular beach among Amsterdammers is (without doubt) Zandvoort aan Zee. Located right next to Haarlem and only 30km away from the capital city, Zandvoort is the perfect choice for those who want to take a break from the bustling city. At Zandvoort, you will find a long and beautiful sandy beach with a cool vibe, as mostly young people go there to relax. Sand dunes and lovely forests can also be found nearby!
The hidden gem of beach vacationers in the Netherlands, the island of Texel. Yes, you heard that right! Texel is an island located near Den Helder, on the upper coast of North Holland. Texel, along with Vlieland, Terschelling, Ameland, and others, are part of the Dutch Wadden Islands. Texel is the easiet one to access, being located the closest to mainland and as such, it is also the largest and most populated. Texel makes for a great destination for a beach holiday, as its sandy shores extend over 30km! In Texel, you will also find sand dunes and hills, as well as beautiful villages and the 150-year-old lighthouse (which you can even climb into!).
