Best budget-friendly places to discover world cuisine in Utrecht

Utrecht is an international city where different food cultures intersect with each other. As "Love goes through the stomach", we have prepared a list of the top 3 budget-friendly foreign restaurants, so you can take your beloved ones on a food tour around the world anytime.

#1 Champañeria Los Amigos Utrecht

A big fan of Spanish food should not miss this place. Within walking distance to Dom Tower and only 5-minute cycling from Utrecht Centraal, you can enjoy the best Tapas in town with the cozy atmosphere in a place. The price for the Tapas menu is only below €6 per dish. Super fair price for high-quality food! For anyone who is not interested in snacks and small portions, go ahead and try their specialties, for example, Jamón ibérico served with melon or crispy bread. You will be amazed by the tastiness!

One more plus is that their waiters and bartenders are really friendly and always willing to help you to find the perfect dishes. Are you planning to go on a romantic dinner with your lover? You can't go wrong with Champañeria Los Amigo.

Champañeria Los Amigo: Voorstraat 56, 3512 Utrecht
Opening hours: From Thursday - Sunday: 17:00 -20:00 (Friday: 17:00 - 22:00; Monday - Wednesday: Closed)

#2 Kimmade Vietnamese Street Food

If European cuisine has been too familiar with you, let's travel a little further to Asia to have some well-known Vietnamese dishes. Kimmade Vietnamese Street Food is a small takeaway restaurant located in the city center of Utrecht (just like the location of Vietnam in the Southeast Asia region). The restaurant is busy most of the time, not only because of its capacity but also of its authenticity and richness in flavor. The restaurant's name speaks itself, Kimmade offers diners real Vietnamese street food like Banh Mi or Banh Xeo (Crispy rice flour pancake). However, people usually come here for Pho and Spring rolls. These dishes taste so good that some customers feel like they took them back to Hanoi – the capital of Vietnam or Ho Chi Minh city.

At Kimmade, the price is around €4 for finger food and ranges from €6 to €8 for main dishes. Therefore, do not hesitate to come over when you are in Utrecht.

Kimmade Vietnamese street food: Mariastraat 2, 3511 Utrecht
Opening hours: From Monday - Saturday: 12:00 -22:00 (Sunday: 13:00 - 20:00)

#3 Beers & Barrels at the Harbour

The last exotic food spot that we highly recommend is Barrels at the Harbour. Welcome on board, American food-lovers! Around 10 minutes by bike from our building Nijenoord, this would definitely be a must-try for those who would love to have a diner-out with beers and burgers in American style. In the unique atmosphere of an old brewery, customers would have an excellent selection of beers and divine meat quality.

If you are a student of the University of Arts Utrecht or Utrecht University and are looking for a new place to arrange eat-out dinners with your foodie gang, this place might be your next favorite spot!

Barrels at the Harbour: Veilinghavenkade 177, 3521 AT Utrecht
Opening hours: From Monday - Thursday: 16:00 - 00:00 (Friday - Sunday: 12:00 - 00:00)
