A cozy city with a rich history
Helmond is a cozy city with a rich history! The city features the largest moated castle of The Netherlands. This former textile city has more than 90,000 residents, making it the fifth largest city in the province of Noord Brabant. A mature city with a presence! Besides offering a rich variety on cultural activities and a pleasant living environment, Helmond also offers a beautiful and yet rural countryside that is suitable for a stroll, cycling or recreation.
In Helmond we offer sustainable and modern rental apartments named after its notable neighbor, The Castle! The Castle enjoys an excellent central location with an easy connection by public transport and by car. Read more about these apartments here below.
The residents of Helmond are called ‘Kattenmeppers’ (literally translated as 'Cat Smackers'). The Helmond area used to be very poor. Back in the days, there were rumours that Helmonders ate their cats, because they had no money for food. Till this day, the residents of Helmond are still called Kattenmeppers due to this myth.
